Tamara Geyer | Career Readiness Instructor: Mid-Atlantic
Tamara Geyer is a strategic leader with over 15 years of experience in executive processes, resource management, and organizational leadership across the United States Marine Corps, the Wounded Warrior Project, and Teach for America.
Currently, as the Supervisor of the Work and Family Life program at the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC), Tamara focuses on enhancing program efficiency and effectiveness. She leads initiatives to streamline operations and implement best practices tailored to the needs of the military community.
Tamara’s leadership was further developed in the Marine Corps, where she served as an Aviation Operations & Training Chief for a high-tempo F/A-18 squadron. She later improved operational efficiency and expanded reach in underserved communities as the Senior Managing Director of Teach for America’s Veterans Initiative.
At the Wounded Warrior Project, she managed a mental health team providing critical support to servicemembers, veterans, and their families, coordinating over 150 complex cases monthly. Additionally, Tamara developed educational programs at San Quentin State Prison, empowering incarcerated individuals to achieve their General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Her commitment to service extends to volunteer work, including her role as a Battle Captain/Movement Coordinator for Team America during the Afghanistan withdrawal and as a literacy tutor for Reading Partners in Washington, DC.
Tamara holds a degree in Sociology & Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley, and certifications in emotional intelligence and communication facilitation. Outside of work, she enjoys civic engagement, travel, writing, art history, painting (poorly), good food, and spending time with family and friends.
