Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gabe Soltero began a 25-year Navy career after graduating from Rice University in Houston, TX.  Trained as a pilot, he served all over the world, ultimately rising to become the Commanding Officer of two helicopter squadrons in San Diego and Guam.  Gabe finished his military career as Director of the Naval International Staff College in Newport, RI, leading a group of senior leaders from over 50 countries in a program focusing on strategic thinking, decision making, and building successful partnerships while also traveling around the U.S. to meet with business and government leaders and learning about American approaches to work, life, and culture.

After retiring from the Navy Gabe moved with his family to Atlanta, where he works at The Carter Center in the Rule of Law Program.  He oversees projects that work with both government and civil society in developing countries to promote transparency and economic empowerment by making public information more accessible.

Gabe began his relationship with FourBlock by attending the Boston cohort in 2019.  After moving to Atlanta, he volunteered as an alumnus with the Atlanta cohort, joined FourBlock’s National Leadership Council, and became a Career Readiness Coach.
