News Corp Awards New Grant to FourBlock

The grant will support FourBlock’s Career Readiness Program and Military Spouse Career Transition Program in 2020-2021

(NEW YORK CITY) – News Corp recently awarded FourBlock with a grant to support FourBlock’s Veteran Career Readiness Program and new Military Spouse Career Transition program in 2020 – 2021.

News Corp’s grant will provide continued support for the New York City cohort of FourBlock’s flagship Veteran Career Readiness Program, which helps returning service members build the professional relationships they need to achieve their potential and excel in meaningful new careers after military service.

The grant will also support the inaugural semester of FourBlock’s Military Spouse Career Readiness Program, a comprehensive, instructional career transition pilot program for military spouses who are looking to return to work or pivot into new careers, developed in partnership with national learning company Prepare to Launch U (PTLU). Twenty-two spouses completed a pilot program in November 2020, and the inaugural semester of the program will launch in February 2021.

“The success and growth of our Veteran Career Readiness Program is due in large part to the generous support of News Corp,” said FourBlock Founder and President Michael Abrams. “This continued grant funding will not only allow us to serve more transitioning veterans in NYC, but also to expand our reach and to offer career support, professional connections, and resources tailored specifically to the unique and varied needs of military spouses around the world.”

FourBlock’s Career Readiness Program first launched with a small cohort of 16 veterans in New York City 10 years ago and has since grown to serve more than 600 veterans annually in 18 cohorts across the country. Since its inception, more than 500 transitioning veterans and service members have completed the program in New York City. News Corp has provided FourBlock with grant funding since 2017.

“Organizations like FourBlock are critical to veterans and their families as they make the transition back to civilian life,” says Toni Bush, Global Head of Government Affairs and head of the News Corp Philanthropy Committee. “We are honored by this opportunity to aid in the expansion of services like FourBlock’s Career Readiness Program and Military Spouse Career Support Program that equip these individuals with crucial professional training and resources that empower them to build meaningful careers in this new chapter of their lives.”
