The annual hockey event supports FourBlock Foundation and its military veterans.
FourBlock Foundation will host the 4th annual Inspire Games on May 2 at Chelsea Piers in NYC. The event kicks off with a round-robin hockey tournament from 12-4 p.m. ET and concludes with a reception from 4-7 p.m. ET.
100% of proceeds from the event support FourBlock and its military veterans, including wounded Marine veteran and Paralympic gold medalist Ralph DeQuebec, a FourBlock alumnus who competed with the U.S. sled hockey team at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.
In 2012, Gunnery Sergeant Ralph DeQuebec deployed with 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion to Afghanistan. On June 21, GySgt DeQuebec was disarming an improvised explosive device when it detonated. As a result of the blast, Ralph lost both legs above the knee. Ralph spent four years recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. With the help of his FourBlock mentor, he discovered he responds best, both physically and mentally, to recreational therapy; in particular, he fell in love with sled hockey.
In 2016, Ralph retired from the Marine Corps and began pursuing his dream of playing in the 2018 Winter Paralympics. In 2017, he was named co-captain of the U.S. National Developmental Sled Hockey Team, and in January 2018, he was selected to play with the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team in PyeongChang.
Behind Ralph’s solid defense and three assists, Team USA took home Paralympic gold this past March with a thrilling overtime victory against Canada.
