Dr. Lisa Stern | Director of Program Impact and Assessment
Lisa brings three decades of workforce and career development experience to the FourBlock community, including extensive experience executing successful veteran employment programs. Her passions lie in providing veterans with the critical self-advocacy skills they need to be successful and thrive in the civilian workforce, and training employers on military cultural competency. Lisa will focus her efforts on measuring the effectiveness of FourBlock’s signature Career Development Program.
Lisa received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Maryland (GO TERPS!), her master’s degree in Vocational Special Education from The George Washington University, and a post-master’s certificate in Veteran and Military Behavioral Health from Widener University. Frustrated with the negative narratives and stereotypes associated with transitioning service members and veterans, she returned to school, earned her doctorate from The George Washington University in Human and Organizational Learning, and received the 2019 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the University Council for Workforce and Human Resource Education for her research on Post-Military Career Construction. She continues to work on shifting the veteran transition research dialogue from one of career dysfunction, barriers, and problems to one of solutions and positive results.
