Three Veterans Groups Partner to Help Veterans Find Success in Colleges and Careers
Warrior-Scholar Project, Service to School and Four Block will work together to provide veterans with a joint pathway for long-term academic and professional success

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Three of the nation’s top organizations dedicated to connecting veterans of America’s armed forces to higher education and employment opportunities—Warrior-Scholar Project, Service to School and Four Block Foundation—have formed a strategic partnership to help veterans successfully navigate their academic and professional careers.

“This strategic partnership between our organizations establishes a new model for cooperative engagement among veteran service organizations in support of what will become the next ‘greatest generation’,” said Sidney Ellington, PhD, Warrior-Scholar Project executive director.

The three organizations will work with faculty and admissions committees at top-tier schools, as well as senior executives at Fortune 500 companies, to shine a spotlight on the value veterans add to campuses and companies. The partnership will ensure the availability of coordinated resources for veterans as they look to utilize skills acquired in military service and apply those skills to their own professional development.

“Transitioning from military to civilian life is a total mental, physical and personal readjustment for a veteran,” said Beth Morgan, Service to School executive director. “By forming a confederated solution which spans the most critical needs of transitioning service members as they make their way from the military to college and, finally, to a career, we ensure that the whole of our collective offering is greater than the sum of our individual parts.”

Navigating the challenges of being admitted into college, succeeding in class, and then starting a career after college is difficult for anyone. Numerous resources exist to help veterans overcome each of these hurdles, however they face the challenge of not knowing which guidance to heed – and the process remains disjointed.

Through this partnership, veterans will receive a full spectrum of transition, academic, and professional support. Every veteran who receives support from one organization will receive coordinated follow-through and support from the next.

Service to School and Warrior-Scholar Project will continue to focus on developing well-prepared candidates for higher education at the best schools possible. Four Block will, with access to a pipeline of current students veterans enrolled at great universities, focus on developing well-prepared graduates for competitive careers at the best organizations possible. Together these organizations can obtain a fuller picture of the challenges and successes veterans experience during each stage of their complete transition.

The transition from service to school to career need not be a disjointed process with veterans forced to choose among a constellation of service organizations. This partnership between Service to School, Warrior-Scholar Project and Four Block brings together best-in-class, recommended organizations to provide a single pipeline for both the veterans and these organizations.

“Veterans across the country have looked to our organizations to strengthen their educations and careers,” said Michael Abrams, Four Block president and founder. “By partnering, we will make it smoother than ever for today’s generation of veterans to transition seamlessly across each phase of their transition in order to achieve their fullest potential and make a difference in their communities.”
